sounds pretty cool...

... and I don't know if it fits your original song concept, but you could add a nice swingin' tom beat with some hi-hat or something. If not that, more of a driving bassline like Achmarin said; just something to make it less repetitive, and something to make it "pop" I guess < something our band director would always say.

Nice job though

moonhitler responds:

Thanks! I may make a better version at some point. As I said before, I was going to update it, but I lost the midi files before I could.

Thanks for the review.

Hahahaha!

Its like all the characters from Smash Bros. Brawl went on vacation! Hahaha, I love it!

Tomppaah responds:

haha :D Thank you! What a nice thing to say haha ;P

Thats pretty nice

I like the different sounds used, especially the rain stick thing, or whatever kind of shaker thing that is. The whole thing reminds me of something that should be in an intense Donkey Kong game, haha. I usually hate pieces that fade out, but I think this one is the type that is ok. I don't think its absolutely necessary to add more, I like it the way it is actually. And bongos are great! but I'm more of a doumbek/toumbeleki fan myself, haha, but bongos are what this piece needs, great job!

Musical-Pants responds:

Thanks for the review.
I love the rain stick thingamabob too, I am a percusionist, so I tried to include as many different tribal instruments as possible. It worked out pretty well.
I appreciate that this isn't your genre as such, but you still liked it.
Donkey Kong? Could be!

Sweet!

My only real problems were the "vibes," how they seemed crushed on the runs and glisses, and some of the voices are too loud for the entire thing. But I really like it! Its a neat take on the original. Its more "spacy" and has a nice over all feel. If you wanted to fix these things you'd have a pretty awesome piece here!

Majorgeneral responds:

Thanks I'll see what I can do

Nice!

I like the way the strings are used. It IS very similar to the original, and it makes a nice loop. It would be cool to have the bass line move more, more musicality you know? But great job!

LoopDaLoop responds:

I know it sounds very similar :p

Thanks for the review :)

really nice!

I love this version!! Its so different and relaxing. just GREAT!

Soundshifter responds:

thanks

Let's see...

I like this take on the piece, a very beautiful and nostalgic piece for me. I feel there are some tempo issues in there, or at least some things seem a bit... off.

And the part at :45 sounds really empty to me. It sounds like everything is unison, where a little variation in pitch would fill up the space. I'm sure there are some chords and stuff you could use. And the ending isn't really an ending, but I know how difficult it can be to come up with a finish to a song that is only heard in an eternal loop... lol.

Besides that, I like it, and think its a great take on the theme. Clean it up a little and it should sound really good!

Neurotangent responds:

Very helpful review, thank you. I'll get around to a 3.0 soon.

I like it!

I just wish it were longer, or that the loop lined up exactly, but maybe that's just my computer or something... but a build into other instruments or something woulda been cool. I love the kalimba (or whatever it is, marimba maybe...)

RyeGuyHead responds:

the loop is flawless, its hard to recreate it by streaming the file

the kalimba is the only traditional element of this remix

I instantly loved it from the beginning!

THIS is what biology "sounds" like to me! Visions of the first life being formed in a pool somewhere in a pool of water, lightning silently raging in the distance in bright flashes of blazing white.... its so nice

Soundshifter responds:

thanks :) i've always had an interest in biology and astronomy and this is what it sounds like to me too! the pusling vibrations of life itself. a beautiful thing. thanks for listening :)

so awesome!!!!

The feel of the guitar instantly says rain, I image sitting by a big window under grey skies in the spring with water running down the glass next to my face, and thats the guitar alone! I love how the strings build up and just drop short, its RAIN! This song IS rain! lol. So fitting.... so reminiscent.....

Soundshifter responds:

i'm glad you enjoyed this one. thanks for listening.
